When tissues do not get enough blood flow and oxygen for an extended period of time, they necrose (die) and cannot perform their function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">There are many etiologies for a blocked artery, but the most common cause is atherosclerosis, which can be due to a<br>buildup of cholesterol, fat, proteins, calcium, and white blood cells (WBCs) called plaque. Other causes are hypotension, certain infections (anything that damages the heart muscle), and spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">There are two types of MI: NSTEMI (non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction) and STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction). A concept hospital for wallpaper and web.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9342944334127739\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9342944334127739\" data-ad-slot=\"9438483114\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:27px\"><strong>Symptoms?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Myocardial cell death can occur within 20-40 minutes of a completely blocked artery, so it is imperative to be able to<br>recognize symptoms of an MI to limit the severity of necrosis.<br>Common symptoms<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li>Severe chest pain\/pressure (like an elephant sitting on your chest), which may radiate to the left arm or jaw.<br>o This is gradual in onset and usually provoked by exercise or exertion.<br>o Usually described more as discomfort rather than pain and is not easily localized to one spot.<br>o Does not change with position or respiration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diaphoresis (sweating)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fatigue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nausea and\/or vomiting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dyspnea (difficulty breathing)<br>Other symptoms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In females, dyspnea is the predominant feature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In diabetics and the elderly, dyspnea without chest pain is common.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Belching, or indigestion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dizziness, lightheadedness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clamminess<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weakness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Palpitations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Syncope (fainting)<br>Risk Factors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Older age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Male sex<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family history or previous MI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hypertension (high blood pressure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diabetes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dyslipidemia (increased cholesterol, triglycerides)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obesity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sedentary lifestyle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certain autoimmune diseases (eg.
